No need to change the decision to delay taking steps against Judge Abdulla: High Court

High Court has ruled today that there is no need to change the decision by Civil Court to delay taking steps against Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed (Judge Abdulla).

High Court issued this ruling after investigating a case appealed by Judicial Service Commission (JSC), regarding the interim ruling by Civil Court for the case filed by Judge Abdulla subsequent to JSC finding him guilty of misconduct.

High Court Judge Dr Azmiralda Zahir said at the Court hearing today that JSC could not prove any reason why Civil Court’s interim ruling should be withdrawn.

Dr Azmiralda Zahir said that even though JSC claimed that Civil Court does not have the competence to handle the case submitted by Judge Abdulla, JSC could not prove any reason for this.

It was therefore ruled after considering the reasons for appeal submitted by JSC, that there is no reason to change the decision by Civil Court to delay taking steps against Judge Abdulla.
