Suspect involved in fatal hit-and-run accident arrested

The driver involved in the fatal hit-and-run accident last April near Salahuddin Mosque on Alikilegefaanu Magu, Male’, has been arrested.

Abdulla Azeez, 60, sustained serious injuries after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing the road, and died while being transported to a hospital in Sri Lanka after being treated at ADK Hospital in Male’.

Police said that the 29-year-old suspect was arrested on 14 May, and his period of detention has been extended twice by the Criminal Court.

Police thanked the public for their cooperation in the efforts to find the suspect.
