Police arrest 12-year-old, several others with drugs in Velidhoo

Police have arrested a 12-year-old boy and several other individuals for possession and sale of illicit drugs in Noonu Velidhoo.

The individuals arrested are two 20 and 19-year-old adults, and 3 minors of ages 17, 15, 12. Police also said that all suspects are male and that the 17-year-old has an existing record for theft.

The individuals were arrested around 7:55 p.m. on Sunday during an operation carried out based on information received from the public, police said in a statement today.

A total of 25 rubber packets containing drugs were discovered, out of which 10 were hidden inside sandal found in a residence searched under court order. The remaining 15 packets confiscated while the suspects were trying to dispose them out of the window, police said.

Velidhoo Police Station is investigating the case.
