President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has requested Transport Minister Ameen Ibrahim not to attend work, or ‘stay at home’ until further notice by the President’s Office.
This has been confirmed to Sun Online by President’s Office Spokesperson Ibrahim Muaz Ali.
Muaz said that this comes in relation to the issue regarding the coalition agreement between Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Jumhooree Party (JP), and will be in effect until discussions are held and the matter is resolved.
He said that in addition to Ameen, State Minister for Transport Ahmed Zubair and Deputy Minister of Transport Ikram Hassan have also been notified to stay at home.
Muaz said that the remaining JP members in the government, however, have not been notified to do the same.
Other ministers representing JP in the government are Home Minister Umar Naseer, Environment Minister Thorig Ibrahim, and Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed.
