Dr Mohamed Saud, who recently left Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), has urged President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik to show authority as President in shaping the country’s economic situation and policies.
In an interview on Sun FM ‘Big Talk’ last night, Dr Saud said that President Waheed needs to be aware of several factors relating to the economic challenges faced by the Maldives.
“President Waheed should be aware that a unity government may result in foreign investors hesitating to invest in Maldives,” Dr Saud said.
Dr Saud said that foreign investors may hesitate because it is not clear who is in power or control, as several leaders of various groups are represented in the government.
“I advise the President to minimize this and use the full authority he has as President to shape the economic and political situation in the Maldives,” Dr Saud said.
