Five individuals apply for PG post again

Five individuals have applied for the post of Prosecutor General (PG), after the President’s Office opened application for this post for a second time on Tuesday.

Spokesperson at President’s Office Ibrahim Muaz did not reveal who applied for the post this time around, but said that it includes some individuals who had applied earlier.

The five individuals who applied earlier were lawyer Maumoon Hameed, former Tourism Minister Mariyam Zulfa, Deputy Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem, State Prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office Aishath Fazna Ahmed, and lawyer Ismail Waheed.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom nominated Maumoon Hameed and sent his name for approval by the parliament. With 36 votes, Maumoon Hameed failed to get approval of majority of the total parliament, which is 39 votes.
