Auditor General Niyaz Ibrahim has said that some state institutions do not cooperate with the Audit Office.
Niyaz told Sun Online that there are several reasons behind audit reports being delayed.
“Cooperation from some institutions is very limited, especially in sending documents required for audits,” he said.
Niyaz said that pending audit reports for 2011 and 2012 will be published very soon, and that audit reports for 37 state institutions for 2013 will be published before June 2014.
The Constitution states that audit reports for all state institutions must be published within five months of the end of every year.
However, several audit reports for 2011, 2012, and former President Mohamed Nasheed’s movement are still pending.
