Dead baby found in sewer in Velidhoo Health Centre

An object suspected to be a baby or aborted foetus has been found in a sewer in N. Velidhoo Health Centre.

Island Council President Mohamed Adil said today that the sewer was checked because it was clogged, and that it was not obvious that the object was a baby when it was first removed. However it has now been confirmed by the island doctor, who said that the baby had been in the sewer for two or three days.

Police have also confirmed the incident, and said that the object was found at around 5:30. The matter is currently under investigation.

People of the island believe that the baby was aborted at about three months.
