High Court rejects cases requesting to annul three elections

High Court has rejected and returned cases requesting to annul Parliamentary Elections for three constituencies.

The court said that it has decided to reject the case filed by Jumhooree Party (JP) requesting to annul the election for Mahibadhoo, the case filed by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) candidate Ibrahim Jihad requesting to annul the election for Meedhoo, and the case filed by MDP candidate Mohamed Nihad requesting to annul the election for Feydhoo.

The court has not given any details on the matter.

Meanwhile, the court has accepted and scheduled first hearings for a case filed by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) candidate Ahmed Tharig Zuhair requesting to annul the election for Felidhoo, a case filed by MDP candidate Abdulla Jabir requesting to annul the election for Kaashidhoo, and cases filed by MDP requesting to annul the elections for Gemanafushi and Isdhoo.

Trials are also under way at High Court for a case filed by MDP candidate Abbas Mohamed requesting to annul the election for Funadhoo, a case filed by PPM candidate Hiyalee Mohamed Rasheed requesting to annul the election for Hithadhoo Medhu, a case filed by PPM candidate Ahmed Shareef requesting to annul the election for Thimarafushi, a case filed by MDP candidate Ali Arif requesting to annul the election for Nolhivaram in Male’, a case filed by PPM candidate Ali Ibrahim requesting to annul the election for Hithadhoo North, cases filed by JP requesting to annul the elections for Kurendhoo and Naifaru.
