Committee approves Zahiya Zareer as High Commissioner to Sri Lanka

The National Security Committee has approved the appointment of Zahiya Zareer as the new High Commissioner of the Maldives accredited to Sri Lanka.

Prior to approving her for this post unanimously at a meeting on Wednesday, the committee conducted as assessment to determine if Zahiya Zareeer had records of criminal activity or debts.

The MPs present at the meeting were Manadhoo MP Mohamed Thorig, Madaveli MP Mohamed Nazim, Maavah MP Abdul Azeez Jamal Abubakuru, Kanditheemu MP Mohamed Hussain, and Gan MP Yoosuf Abdul Gafoor.

The committee is chaired by Thulusdhoo MP Rozaina Adam.

Zahiya Zareer has held the posts of Minister of Education and Minister of Gender, and prior to that, senior posts at the Education Development Centre.
