Prominent physician Dr Ahmed Razee has passed away at the age of 59.
Dr Razee died while being treated for a heart attack at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) around 2:00 a.m. Thursday morning. He was admitted at the hospital on Wednesday.
Dr Razee started his service to the Maldives medical sector in 1984 and has served at a number of posts at the country’s main tertiary hospital IGMH, including Senior Consultant in Medicine and the hospital’s chief administrator.
With a special interest in diabetes and metabolic syndromes, Dr Razee has served as chairman of the Diabetes Assocaition of Maldives and regularly appeared as a guest physician on Sun Media Group’s FM radio show Sun Doctor. He is well known for his social work and efforts for the public good.
