Elections Commission has appealed the High Court ruling to annul the Local Council Election for Gaafu Alifu Kondey.
The High Court ruling to annul and hold a re-run of the Kondey Election came in relation to a case filed by Ali Ibrahim.
Media Official of Elections Commission Aishath Shifana told Sun Online that the ruling was appealed in Supreme Court last week.
She said that Supreme Court has not yet informed if the case has been accepted.
The High Court ruling issued on 31 March stated that Elections Commission had violated Article 36 of the Elections General Act in the Kondey Local Council Election process. The judges who presided over the case, with reference to Article 65 of the Elections General Act, thus unanimously declared the Kondey Local Council Election annulled.
