President to make official visit to Japan this month

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom is scheduled to make an official visit to Japan from 14 to 17 April.

During his visit, the President will meet with His Majesty Emperor Akihito, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and other senior Ministers of the Japanese Government, and hold discussions in further improving and expanding relations between the Maldives and Japan, said the Spokesperson at the President’s Office Ibrahim Muaz today.

President Yameen is also scheduled to meet with business leaders and potential investors with a view of further expanding economic opportunities for Maldives in Japan.

Japan has been an important development partner for the Maldives since the 1970’s.
