State Minister Thoriq transferred to Transport Ministry as Deputy Minister

Thoriq Ali Luthfee, Minister of State for Health and Gender, State Minister in-charge of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA), has been transferred to the Ministry of Transport and Communications as Deputy Minister.

Spokesperson at the President’s Office Ibrahim Muaz Ali told Sun that Thoriq was transferred from State to Deputy Minister, a demotion in political post rankings, on Thursday. Muaz did not state a reason for the transfer, but said that despite the change, Thoriq will still remain as the chairman of NSPA.

Thoriq was previously appointed the chairman of the government’s universal healthcare scheme Aasandha by former president Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik, but was later transferred to head the social protection agency.
