Injuries on man found dead in Thinadhoo suggests foul play

The man found dead in a house in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo on Friday night had injury marks on his body, sources from Thinadhoo have confirmed.

Ali Rasheed, 79, was found dead in his home, a house named Diamond Villa, Thinadhoo on Friday night. A source from Thinadhoo said Ali Rasheed had a 6-inch laceration on his head and a swollen left eye.

“Rasheed’s left eye seemed swollen after taking a hit,” the source said.

Divorced, with no children, Rasheed lived alone in his own home, apart for a group of expatriate workers who live on the premises.

Police said on Friday night that the death is being treated as suspicious and that a special investigation team from the capital Male' has left for Thinadhoo.
