Kondey Council Office staff go without salary for two months

The staff of Gaafu Alifu Kondey Council Office have not received their salaries for the past two months.

An official of Kondey Council Office told Sun Online that salaries have been delayed because presently, there is no one at the office permitted to sign cheques.

He said that only former council members have this permission.

High Court has annulled the Council Election for Kondey held on 18 January. Elections Commission has not announced a date for a new election.

The Kondey Council Office official further told Sun Online that Local Government Authority (LGA) has been requested to grant permission to sign cheques to an administrative employee.

LGA was not available for a comment at the time of press.
