Committee rejects Maumoon Hameed for PG post

Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions has today rejected president's nominee Maumoon Hameed to the Prosecutor General position.

Committee member MP Imthiyaz Fahmy told Sun that Maumoon Hameed failed to the committee review and that he was rejected on Monday.

Prosecutor General Ahmed Muizzu resigned on 25 November last year, moments before an opposition majority parliament was to take a vote of no confidence against him. Deputy Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem currently heads the Prosecutor General's Office.
