President advised to restore government control over some lands assigned to City Council

The cabinet has advised President Yameen Abdul Gayoom to take back and restore government control over some lands assigned to Male’ City Council, to ensure that they are used in a manner that is most beneficial to citizens and the State.

President’s Office has not specified the lands to be revoked from City Council.

This advice was given after cabinet members discussed a paper on the issue presented by Ministry of Housing and Infrastructure.

Cabinet members stressed the importance of developing and using these lands in line with the government’s developmental vision for Male’ City, to ensure the implementation of the economic and social pledges in the government’s manifesto.
