Step grandson admits to participating in the murder of Ayyube

Ibrahim Waseem of Maaveli, Dh. Kudahuvadhoo has admitted to participating in the murder of Ali Hassan (Ayyube) of Samandharuge, Dh. Kudahuvadhoo. Waseem is the step grandson of Ayyube and a suspect for this crime.

Three people were accused following the murder of Ayyube. They are Fauzan Mohamed of Fanas, Ibrahim Majid of Ranakuri and Ayyube’s step grandson Ibrahim Waseem of Maaveli, Dh. Kudahuvadhoo.

Some of them were charged with deliberate murder, while others were charged with participating in the deliberate murder of another person.

The hearing today was for Ibrahim Waseem alone, during which he admitted to the crime.

He admitted to the charges made against him by the lawyer, and even asked to speed up the court process. He said that he does not need a lawyer to represent him in the court.

“The charges are correct. I did it,” he said.

The charges made against him state that Ayyube was taken to an empty house called Hudhualhi in Dh. Dharavandhoo, where he was murdered by stabbing in the chest with an iron spike and cutting his throat using a sharp object. Waseem’s testimony including the details of how Ayyube was murdered was revealed in court today. However the court did not disclose this information, citing that the investigation is still ongoing.
