Complaints regarding distribution of money, gifts to gain votes increase

Police have said that more complaints are being filed regarding money and gifts being distributed in exchange for votes, ahead of the Parliamentary Election on Saturday.

Any form of bribery to obtain votes is strictly prohibited in all laws and regulations related elections.

Police said that these activities disrupt order and encourage division in the society, as well as obstruct the efforts to ensure a peaceful election.

Police have urged all candidates and political parties to refrain from such activities.

Police further said that complaints filed in this regard are under investigation in collaboration with Elections Commission.

Distribution of money and gifts is ongoing across the country ahead of the election, often publicly at ‘camps’ set up under various names.
