President’s Office has called for applications for the two Elections Commission member seats left vacant following the Supreme Court’s disqualification of the commission’s president and vice president on Sunday.
Application forms will be available from the office and its website, said the President’s Office in an announcement today. Deadline for applications has been set for 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 12 March 2014.
At a hearing for a contempt of court case against the Elections Commission on Sunday, Supreme Court sentenced the commission’s president Fuad Thaufeeg to six months in prison and sentenced to disqualify Fuad and his deputy Ahmed Fayaz as members of commission, for disparaging court procedures.
