61 complaints have been received regarding re-registration: Elections Commission

Elections Commission has said that 61 complaints have been received regarding re-registration for the Parliamentary Election scheduled for 22 March.

Re-registration is required by persons wishing to vote from a location other than their permanent residences.

Director General of Elections Commission Mohamed Shakeel told Sun Online that the deadline for filing complaints regarding re-registration passed last night, and that details will be available when the processing of the complaints is completed.

Shakeel said that the list cannot be changed unless a person is registered at a location other than the one he requested due to an error made by the commission.

He said that the final list of eligible voters for the parliamentary election will be announced tomorrow night.

Elections Commission announced earlier that a total of 302 candidates will contest in the parliamentary election.
