Former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has said that candidates put forward by the government coalition must be elected to the parliament, in order to ensure that the parliament cooperates with the government.
Gayoom said this while speaking at a rally held to inaugurate the campaign for Nahla Ali, who will contest Komandoo seat on Jumhooree Party (JP) ticket at the upcoming Parliamentary Election.
He highlighted that the government prioritises youth development, and said that Nahla is an educated, experienced young woman who can provided valuable services to the parliament.
Recalling Nahla’s loyalty, Gayoom said that Nahla also worked with the campaign back in 2008 when he ran for president.
Gayoom said that the coalition of JP, Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) would always work for the benefit of the people.
Speaking at the rally, JP Leader Gasim Ibrahim said that the parliament should work for the benefit of the people, and should gain the respect of the people.
Gasim urged the people of Komandoo to vote for Nahla in the Parliamentary Election.
