Government coalition’s Kendhikulhudhoo candidate Ali Mauroof has said that he cannot be bribed into voting a certain way at the parliament.
Mauroof, who is also Deputy Leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), said this while speaking at a rally at Kendhikulhudhoo School on Thursday night to launch his campaign .
“I will represent your rights at the parliament. I cannot be bribed into voting a certain way on issues at the parliament. I cannot be ‘bought’ by any rich person. I will always stand for the rights of my family and Maldivian citizens,” he said.
He highlighted the importance of the government having majority in the parliament, for it to be able to fulfil its pledges; and said that he was confident that the government would win 65 percent of seats at the parliament.
Mauroof said that he would work with the government to facilitate development for the people of Kendhikulhudhoo.
He said that he chose to be in politics not for personal gains, but to serve the people of Noonu atoll.
At last night’s rally, President Yameen and MDA Leader Ahmed Siyam Mohamed urged people to vote for Mauroof.
