MDP

President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has condemned attacks by the MDP towards the President, Chief Justice, Supreme Court Judges, and other political leaders.

While addressing the people of K. Gaafaru, the President expressed confidence that the Prosecutor General would take into consideration the dangers faced by the country, and remain steadfast in fulfilling his responsibilities. He urged the courts to speed up their processes.

President Dr Waheed said that the acts of violence are conducted following instruction and encouragement by few leaders of MDP, and that he believes that most MDP members do not participate in such acts. He said that Maldives will not be allowed to fall into chaos like some parts of the world, and that we have seen how people suffer as a result of such chaos.

“Our patience is also limited,” the President said in Gaafaru.

President Waheed said the Maldives is a democracy and not a dictatorship, and that the judicial system is according to the Constitution and laws of the country.
