President to participate in match to inaugurate Vilimale

President Yameen Abdul Gayoom will participate in a futsal match tonight, at the official inauguration of the futsal ground established in Vilimale’ under the Unity Through Futsal program.

The inauguration ceremony for the futsal ground, established by State Trading Organisation (STO), Ministry of Youth, Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Maldives Police Service, and Football Association of Maldives, has been scheduled for 9:00 p.m.

Spokesperson at President’s Office Ibrahim Muaz said that the President’s participation in the match shows the priority given by the government for youth empowerment, as stated in the presidential election manifesto of ruling party Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).

The teams playing against each other in tonight’s match are President’s Team, made up of President Yameen and members of his cabinet, and MNDF Team.

It has been decided to establish futsal grounds in seven regions across the country. The first international standard futsal ground was established in Hulhumale’ in 2012, and the second one, at Galolhu Sinamale’ flat area, was inaugurated last year.
