Adhaalath Party to put forward candidates for constituencies contested by PPM and MDA

Adhaalath Party has decided to put forward candidates for constituencies contested by government coalition parties Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) in the upcoming Parliamentary Election.

At a press conference today, Adhaalath Party Spokesperson Ali Zahir announced seven constituencies for which the party will put forward candidates for the Parliamentary Election.

The constituencies are Hulhuhenveyru, Inguraidhoo, Maduvvari, Fares Maathoda, Kudahuvadhoo, Kendhikulhudhoo, and Isdhoo.

Adhaalath Party’s Hulhuhenveyru ticket has been given to Dr Mohamed Iyas, Fares Maathoda ticket to sitting Fares Maathoda MP Ibrahim Mutthalib, Inguraidhoo ticket to Ali Zahir, Maduvvari ticket to Ibrahim Ahmed, Kudahuvadhoo ticket to Hassan Rasheed, Kendhikulhudhoo ticket to Abdulla Ibrahim, and Isdhoo ticket to Abdulla Haleem.

Zahir said that the party decided to put forward candidates for constituencies contested by PPM because the discussions with PPM in this regard have not been successful.

He said that PPM is still welcome to hold discussions with Adhaalath Party.

Zahir said that Adhaalath Party had requested for several constituencies, but those constituencies were included in PPM’s Primaries held yesterday (Saturday), and stressed that Adhaalath Party will not accept other constituencies even if they are offered.

Adhaalth Party’s discussions with Jumhooree Party (JP) have also failed, following which it has decided to also put forward candidates for constituencies contested by JP.

Adhaalath Party has so far announced that their candidates will run for 13 seats in the Parliamentary Election, scheduled for 22 March.
