An individual has been arrested while trying to flee after slashing a woman storekeeper’s arm with a blade, in a local store in Maafannu, Male’.
Two individuals entered Madiha Mart in Shaheed Ali Hingun around 1:30 p.m. and slashed the storekeeper after she refused to handover money. One individual was apprehended, but the other ran away, witnesses said.
According to a witness, the individual was apprehended by a passerby, who went into the store after hearing calls for help. The perpetrator was assaulted by locals, the witness said, before being handed over to the police.
The number of street violence and stabbings have increased dramatically in the capital over the past few weeks.
