Murder convict Humaam

Mohamed Kinaanath Ahmed, arrested over the stabbing of MP Alhan Fahmy on Saturday night, has been released.

Kinaanath is the brother of Hussain Humaam, the young man recently convicted for the brutal murder of religious scholar and Ungoofaaru MP Dr Afrasheem Ali in October 2012.

Kinaanath was arrested near Breakwater Restaurant at Artificial Beach, shortly after MP Alhan was stabbed at the restaurant at around 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night.

In May last year, Kinaanath was arrested for stabbing a man near Star Cinema in Maafannu, Male’. The case is with the Prosecutor General, seeking prosecution.

Kinaanath was released from jail during Nasheed’s administration under the Second Chance program that granted parole to a number of convicts.
