Elections Commission has said that ballot boxes for the Parliamentary Election set for March 2014 will only be placed in foreign countries where at least 300 people have registered to vote.
“For the Parliamentary Election, ballot boxes will only be placed in countries that have a Maldivian mission, where at least 300 people have registered to vote. As for resorts and industrial islands, ballot boxes will only be placed where at least 100 people have registered to vote,” reads Article 14 (b) of the Parliamentary Election Regulation.
The regulation also states that the Elections Commission should use its discretion and can act differently when necessary.
