Bidding open for TV and radio frequencies

Maldives Broadcasting Commission has opened the bidding process for the provision for terrestrial TV and radio service in Maldives. The bidding documents for three TV frequencies and four radio frequencies are available now.

Director General of Broadcasting Commission Mohamed Nasih said today that the bidding documents are available for purchase for Rf 1000. The last date for submission is 5 April before 2:00.

Nasih said that the requirements for participating in the bidding process are stated in the broadcast regulation. Groups which already owsn broadcast frequencies in Maldives cannot participate in bidding for new ones. Also, a group which owns a frequency for part of Maldives must give this up upon winning a frequency for the whole of Maldives.

The minimum acquisition fee for radio frequency is Rf 50,000; and that for TV frequency is Rf 100,000.
