Civil Court orders to delay leasing Farukolhufushi

Civil Court has ordered to delay leasing Kaafu Farukolhufushi (Club Faru), located north of Hulhumale’.

In a statement issued today, Ministry of Tourism has said that the Civil Court order to delay awarding the project to develop and operate Farukolhufushi as a resort, because of an ongoing case regarding this island, came yesterday.

Tourism Ministry opened on 12 January 2014 to lease Farukolhufushi for two years, but has now cancelled the Pre-bid Information Session.

The ministry said earlier that since Farukolhufushi area will be reclaimed under the second phase of Hulhumale’ Reclamation Project, the lease period for Farukolhufushi cannot be extended.
