Criminal Court has said that 11,270 suspects were brought in for extension of detention periods last year.
The court’s statistics show that 10,981 suspects were brought in for extension of detention periods in 2012, and this increased to 11,270 in 2013.
These 11,270 summonses include 5,221 drug crime suspects, and 2,234 theft suspects.
The court said that detention periods were extended, however, for only 9,633 suspects.
The court was also requested by the police for 3,141 orders last year, and it complied with 3,138 such requests.
