Ministry of Tourism has announced to lease Club Faru resort island for another two-year term.
The government took over the resort, which is planned to be assimilated by Hulhumale’ during the reclamation of the artificial island, after stating that Hulhumale’ reclamation will begin soon. Tourism Ministry said the lease period has been fixed to a non-extendable two-year term because the island is still planned to be come part of Hulhumale’.
The Hulhumale’ master plan published by the previous administration showed that 50 percent of the island's beach can be preserved during reclamation. The plan also showed that after reclamation of Hulhumale' second phase is complete, the island will be developed as a heritage island, showing the Maldivian fauna and culture.
Tourism Ministry said bid information documents can be purchased from the Ministry for MVR 2000 or $300, from Tuesday onwards. Deadline for bid submission is 30 January, the Ministry said.
