Former MP Mustafa prosecuted for failing to pay motorcycle instalments

A case has been filed against former Thimarafushi MP Ahmed Mustafa and his wife, for failing to pay for a motorcycle purchased from Alia Investment on instalment.

The claim filed by Alia Investment states that MVR 46,730.44 is owed as motorcycle instalments, and MVR 19,500 is owed as fines at the rate of MVR 25 per day between 14 January 2012 and 7 February 2014 by Mustafa and his wife.

The total sum owed by Mustafa and his wife to Alia Investment is MVR 66,230.44.

Mustafa was disqualified as a member of parliament following failure to pay a debt after being ordered by the court to make the payments.

Mustafa has decided to contest in the Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) Primary for the Parliament Elections later this year.
