Two former presidents to participate in coalition LCE campaigns

President Abdulla Yameen has said that two former presidents; Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik will make campaign trips to the atolls to campaigns for government coalition candidates for the upcoming Local Council Election (LCE).

The President made the statement last night while speaking to the press at the airport after concluding his three-day state visit to India.

“I will travel to some areas. Gasim will travel for us, Siyam will travel for us, President Maumoon will travel for us, President Waheed will travel for us, and our Ministers will also travel for us, including our Vice President. The trips will be made a priority,” President Yameen said.

He said a special function will be held tomorrow night to launch the LCE campaign for the government’s coalition. The Local Council Election has been announced for 18 January.
