Monday to be a working day

President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has declared that Monday will be a working day, even though this year’s first sitting of the first session of the Parliament will be held on that day.

This decision was made following the failure to reconvene the Parliament on 1 March, which was declared a holiday; and because it is not deemed fitting to close government offices again on Monday for the opening session.
