Seven parties fined over audit report delay

Elections Commission has fined seven small political parties for failing to submit their audit reports for 2013.

The commission said that the deadline for submitting the audit reports expired on 14 May this year. The parties are; Maldives Reform Movement, Maldives Social Democratic Party, People’s Party, Social Liberal Party, Maldives National Congress, People’s Alliance and Maldivian Labour Party.

Each party was fined MVR 50,000.

Maldives Reform Movement, founded by former Attorney General Dr Mohamed Munavvar, passed a resolution on 11 December for the party to be dissolved.
