Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that the police will accelerate their investigations to conclude 80 percent of ongoing cases within the first 100 days of the new administration.
This was revealed last night at an event by Home Ministry in Islandar Koshi where the ministry’s 100-day road map was announced. The ministry said a large number of pending cases are holding back young people from employment, as it get their applications rejected.
There are currently over 4000 cases under police investigation, the ministry said, 80 percent of which will be concluded within the 100 days (by 25 February 2014) and the necessary cases forwarded for prosecution.
“It is estimated that this will clear the criminal records of 2000 individuals, who will then be able to get jobs,” the Ministry stated in a presentation last night.
Police are also expediting their forensic efforts to achieve the 100-day goal. A special focus is being given to testing evidence related to severe criminal cases such as drugs, stabbings and assaults, said the ministry.
Home Minister Umar Naseer said last night that the ministry is gearing-up to achieve the 100-day goals.
