The Ministry of Education has announced for Quran teachers again, after it received too few applications following its first announcement.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education Abdul Muhsin Mohamed said that only 30 applications were received following the announcement made on 17 December seeking 69 Quran teachers for island schools for 2014.
He said that interviews are ongoing with those applicants, and a fresh announcement has been made for more Quran teachers.
He said that the bleak response could be the combined result of people being away on holidays, and the fact that the announcement failed reach those interested as it was only published on the Government Gazette.
“We have now put up the announcement on noticeboards at schools and Island Council Offices,” said Muhsin.
Education Ministry said that the new deadline for submitting applications is 29 January, and interviews will be conducted from 29 to 31 January.
Education Ministry has said that Quran teachers will be provided to all schools before the start of the new academic year.
