JSC decides to transfer Judge Abdulla to Drug Court

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to transfer Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdulla Mohamed to Drug Court.

JSC member, Bilehdhoo MP Ahmed Hamza tweeted earlier today that JSC had decided to move Judge Abdulla from Criminal Court to Drug Court, and that JSC will continue its efforts to strengthen the judiciary.

A JSC member told Sun Online that Judge Abdulla will be transferred on 1 January 2014, and that this decision was passed with six votes in favour, out of eight members who participated in today’s JSC meeting.

“This change is part of the efforts to strengthen the judiciary and ‘to refresh’ judges. The purpose isn’t to take action against anyone,” he said.

It was also decided at today’s meeting to transfer several other judges.
