Former Police Commissioner Riyaz to stand in parliament election for Kinbidhoo

Former Commissioner of Police Abdulla Riyaz has decided to stand in the parliament election for Kinbidhoo constituency.

Riyaz announced this in a tweet earlier today.

I will stand in the next parliament election as PPM/JP/MDA endorsed candidate for Kinbidhoo constituency Inshaa Allah.

Riyaz announced earlier following his retirement from Maldives Police that his ‘next career’ will be politics.

The Elections Commission has said that there will be 85 constituencies at the 2014 parliamentary elections, instead of the present 77.

The additional MPs will be elected from Addu City, Thaa Atoll, Alifu Dhaalu Atoll, Hulhumale’, and Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

This addition reflects increase in population in these constituencies, said the Elections Commission.
