Case against Raajje TV officials Yameen and Waheed sent to PG Office

The police have forwarded a case against Raajje TV’s Deputy CEO of Abdulla Yameen and News Head Ibrahim Waheed (Aswaad) to the Prosecutor General’s (PG) Office, following a report broadcast on the channel regarding the Maldives’ judicial system.

The police said that the case was forwarded to the PG Office on 25 November.

The police were notified to investigate the report by the Supreme Court.

Yameen and Aswaad have been summoned by the police for questioning.

Yameen said that the police did not mention that he was suspected of any crime, and that he was questioned about suspicions against Aswaad.

Aswaad gave a statement regarding his right to remain silent when he attended the police station.

He said that such cases should be investigated by the Broadcasting Commission, not the police.

In the report, Raajje TV claimed that there is no difference between the judicial system of the Maldives and the judicial system employed by the people of Sadoom.
