Court orders individual to pay MVR 9.1 million in agriculture island fees and fines

Civil Court has sentenced Moosa Naseer of Pink Rose, Haa Alif Dhidhdhoo to pay MVR 9,061,442.50 in delayed lease payments and subsequent fines for the agriculture island of Noonu Bandaidhoo.

The government raised charges against Moosa Naseer in 2011 for defaulting on lease payments. The sentence to pay MVR 9.1 million within two months was passed by Civil Court on Sunday.

The country’s principle enforced of taxation, Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) continues to persistently peruse companies and individuals who owe revenue to the State.
