Defence Minister Nazim appointed to LGA Board

Minister of Defence Colonel (Rtd) Mohamed Nazim has been appointed to the Board of Local Government Authority (LGA), as the cabinet member appointed to the board by the President.

The President’s Office said that Nazim will be answerable to the parliament in the Board of LGA, which is constituted under Article 62 of the Decentralisation Act.

Both former Presidents Dr Mohamed Waheed and Mohamed Nasheed appointed their Home Ministers to the Board of LGA.

The Board of LGA is made up of nine members. They are a cabinet minister appointed by the President, a member appointed by Male’ City Council, four members elected from Atoll Councils, a member of an NGO elected by the parliament, a member of the public elected by the parliament, and a member elected from City Councils.
