Approval request for six more ministers forwarded to committee

President Abdulla Yameen’s request to seek parliament approval for six cabinet appointments sent to parliament on Monday has today been forwarded to the Parliament Committee on Oversight of the Government for review.

Approval has been sought for Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Home Affairs Umar Naseer, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr Mohamed Shainee, Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed, Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr Mohamed Muizzu, and Minister of Environment and Energy Thorig Ibrahim.

President forwarded the names his first five appointments for approval on Sunday, which have also been forwarded to the committee for review.

President has yet to forward four more appointments; Minister of Education Dr Aishath Shiham, Minister of Health and Gender Dr Mariyam Shakeela, Minister of Youth and Sports Maleeh Jamal and the last appointment, Attorney General Mohamed Anil.
