MP Gasim approved as chair of budget review committee

Parliament has approved Maamigili MP Gasim Ibrahim as the chair of parliament’s 2014 State budget review committee.

MP Gasim was approved as the budget review committee with 12 votes in favour of 22 MPs present, at the committee meeting today.

Kelaa MP Dr Abdulla Mausoon was approved as the deputy chair of the budget review committee, also with 12 votes in favour.

Bileidhoo MP Ahmed Hamza and Dhiggaru MP Ahmed Nazim were first proposed as the chair of the committee, but they failed to pass the vote.

The committee, chaired by the secretariat, had to be adjourned over quarrels and exchanges between members.
