President meets with senior officers of MNDF

The new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Abdulla Yameen has met with the senior-most officer of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), his first official meeting with the country’s top military leaders since his inauguration on Sunday.

On his arrival at the main military headquarters Bandaara Koshi last night, the President was awarded a guard of honour with the national anthem played by the MNDF brass band.

The meeting was attended by Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed, Minister of Defence and National Security Colonel Rtd Mohamed Nazim, Chief of Defence Force Major General Ahmed Shiyam and the Vice Chief of Defence Force Brigadier General Ahmed Mohamed, in addition to other senior officer of the institution.
