Political Advisor Thaufeeq appointed State Minister for Health

President has today appointed Ahmed Thaufeeq (Topy) as the Minister of State for Health.

Prior to his appointment, Ahmed Thaufeeq held the position of Political Advisor to the President.

Ahmed Thaufeeq also sits in the council of President Waheed’s Gaumee Ithihad Party. He was also the President’s agent during the presidential campaign.

President Dr Mohamed Waheed’s presidential term expires at midnight tonight.

However, Supreme Court issued a ruling on Saturday that the present government will continue if a new government is not elected by 11 November, and President Waheed can remain in office after his term expires.
