Supreme Court has ordered the Elections Commission to conduct the second round of the presidential election on Saturday, 16 November 2013.
The order prohibits any government or other State institution from supporting efforts to hold the run-off before Saturday.
The order states that 16 November, the date set by the Elections Commission prior to bringing the second round forward to 10 November, is an ideal date to hold the run-off.
It also states that the court does not believe it is possible to hold the second round today.
Having gained 47 percent and 30 percent of the votes in yesterday's fresh presidential polls, Maldivian Democratic Party's (MDP) Mohamed Nasheed and Progressive Party of Maldives' (PPM) Abdulla Yameen are set to compete in the run-off.
